Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q. Are recording, transcripts, and AI summaries really all free?
Yes. Recording, transcripts, Speaker Identification, and on-device AI Summary are free with no usage limits. Because all analysis runs directly on your iPhone, there are no data charges or API fees.
Q. Is my voice sent to a server?
No. Audio files are never transmitted externally under any circumstances. Free features run 100% on-device, and even Pro subscription cloud AI features only transmit text. For details, please see our Privacy Policy.
Q. The app downloads something on first launch.
That’s the process of downloading the AI Models used for on-device analysis (Speech Recognition, Speaker Identification, and AI Summary) to your iPhone. We recommend doing this over Wi-Fi. Once the download is complete, you can use all features without an internet connection.
Q. How long does AI Model preparation take?
Even after the download finishes, launching the app for the first time or after a long break requires some time to load the AI Model into memory. Because Cleio uses the highest-accuracy model available, preparation typically takes 1–2 minutes, and up to 3–5 minutes depending on your device’s performance.
- Please keep the app open and wait until preparation finishes. If the app moves to the background, preparation may be interrupted.
- The screen is set not to auto-lock while preparation is in progress.
- Once preparation completes, the Home screen will show that recording is ready to start.
- Right after an iOS update or a Cleio app update, the AI Model may need to be prepared again. In this case, simply keep the app open and wait a moment.
Q. How do I cancel my Pro subscription?
You can cancel anytime from Apple’s subscription management screen.
- Open the Settings app
- Tap your Apple ID (your name) at the top
- Tap “Subscriptions”
- Select Cleio Pro → “Cancel Subscription”
If you cancel at least 24 hours before your renewal date, you won’t be charged for the next billing cycle.
Q. How do I get a refund?
Refunds for App Store purchases are handled directly by Apple. You can request one at the page below.
Cleio cannot access App Store payment information, so we are unable to process refunds on your behalf. We appreciate your understanding.
Q. My recording cuts out or fails to save.
Please check the following.
- Make sure you have enough free storage (Settings → General → iPhone Storage)
- Check whether an audio interruption (such as a phone call or alarm) occurred
- Make sure you’re using the latest version of Cleio (check for updates on the App Store)
If the issue continues after checking these items, please email us with details about your situation.
Q. Does Cleio work well for lectures or long-distance recordings, not just meetings?
Cleio is optimized for conversations close to the microphone (meetings, interviews, memos). In environments where the speaker is far from the microphone, such as auditoriums or large lecture halls, transcript quality may decrease. For important long-distance recordings, we recommend using an external microphone.
Q. What languages does Cleio support?
Cleio supports Korean, English, and Japanese. The transcription engine understands over 20 languages; more UI languages may be added in future updates.
